Saint Andrew's has a series of dynamic initiatives in the areas poverty, environmental justice, opportunities for disadvantaged youth, and right relations with First Nations' peoples. They are coordinated by an Outreach Committee and seek to live into the following promise of the United Church creed: "... to live with respect in creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil." Much of the work is carried out though supportive relationships with community partners such as Metro Non-Profit Housing Association, Halifax Housing Help, Direction 180, Phoenix, KAIROS, Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives, and Brunswick Street Mission. One In-house project is a seasonal, weekly "Drop-In Centre" downstairs at St
Andrew's prior to the Sunday Suppers (which feed about 250 individuals and families in our church hall each Sunday evening).
Interest, ideas, contributions and volunteers are welcome and appreciated!
