Sunday morning worship is an important part of our church life at St. Andrew’s. We are also fortunate to be a city church that is accessible to some in the congregation who are within walking distance. For these reasons we feel called to have our doors open on every Sunday of the year. However, in the event of poor weather conditions we have two mandates: safety of the staff and congregation, and effective communication.
1) On Sundays when the weather is poor but worship is not cancelled, members and friends are encouraged to use their own discretion as to whether they can or should be attending worship. Worship may look differently in the event of a storm and we are happy to make accommodations for those with roles around the service who cannot attend. Please do not risk your safety to come to Church.
2) The decision of closure will be made Sunday morning by the Staff leading worship, in dialogue with the Chair of the Management Committee and/or the Chair(s) of Worship & Music Committee, and may include other Committee Chairs or lay leadership, depending on the nature of worship that day. The decision to cancel worship will be communicated by 8:30am on the day in question. In the event of closure, this will be broadcast via CBC radio and CBC storm centre online as well as via the church office voicemail.
