St. Andrew’s Supports Dal Music Students

St. Andrew’s is pleased to welcome Dalhousie University music students as guest musicians in worship. The students gain performance experience in a worship setting and our congregation is enjoying their tremendous talent and musicianship in our worship. A list of students performing in worship during fall 2011 will be posted soon.

Him Singers

The Him Singers is a group of men from St. Andrew’s church, and their friends, who get together on the first Tuesday of the month for fellowship and singing. We sing the old-time gospel standards. The group meets at 7:00 pm in the Mary Holmes Room.

The choir performs at Sunday services and at Senior Citizen's homes, and for the last 3 years has sponsored a bean and ham supper, where the entertainment is provided by the Him Singers, instrumental groups and even a Barbershop Quartet. The proceeds from these endeavors are used for helping the Church music program.

Come and join us. For further information call Ross Towler at 429-3195 or send an e-mail to rosstowler@eastlink.ca

Kevin Parks, Music Director, St. Andrew's

Kevin Parks has been Music Director at St. Andrew's since July 2002. While his formal music studies focused on organ and choral conducting, his interest in church music is very diverse. The music program at St. Andrew’s is often a blended experience, drawing from the best material in classical, modern/popular/folk and global genres. Kevin is always interested in hearing from people who would like to sing or play a musical instrument of any description in worship or at a special St. Andrew’s event. Kevin also has responsibility for the coordination of technology in worship. We are looking for people with experience or willing to learn to operate sound and audio-visual equipment (powerpoint presentations) in worship. Contact Kevin if you have time and talent in any of these areas to share.

Kevin is a candidate for ministry in the United Church of Canada and is pursuing theological studies at the Atlantic School of Theology. The St. Margaret’s Bay rink is like a second home for Kevin and Dana, and their three children..
