Greetings. K’we. Salam. Bonjour…
I am so delighted to have been installed as your new Chair of Council. For those of you who don’t know me, I’d like to introduce myself to you.
I began attending St. Andrew’s United Church in 2007, and was baptized in October 2008. With the exception of two years when I lived overseas (2017-2019), I have been an active member of church life serving on many, many committees. During the last year, was part of the TLI group, and was a Member-at-Large on Council. Currently, I am serving on the Refugee Committee, the Communion Committee, and I am also taking part in a leadership course at AST called “Leading from Inside Out: Facilitating Change in a World in Crisis”
For the past 30 years, I have been teaching adults; twenty-four of those years have been at MSVU (Faculty of Education) in both the B.Ed and M.Ed programs. In addition to teaching, I have 30 years of experience as an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Consultant. My overseas experience led me to another Faculty position at the College of the North Atlantic-Qatar. Currently, I am the Coordinator Community Capacity at ISANS.
For my entire professional and volunteer life, I have been dedicated to making Halifax, Nova Scotia a better, more diverse, and more welcoming place, for all to live, work, learn, and play. I believe in peace, and friendship. This is my fervent hope for our City, and for St. Andrew’s. We are a strong, Community of Faith. I am looking forward to growing our congregation and continuing to be a role-model of social justice to Halifax.
My “door” is always open. I am here to serve. I can be reached easily by email, or by phone at 902 292 1698.
